Qualified Staff...
I believe today's youth seeks to be challenged,
not coddled. To be inspired, not criticized. To be taught, not entertained.
To do, not watch only.
-- Don Sampson (Founder)
Highly qualified, mature staff members are selected from all parts of the United States and other countries. Most trip leaders are
schoolteachers or graduate students and all are trained in First
Aid and CPR.
Life Saving is required for all counselors dealing with water activities.
Only those who fit the program and philosophy are chosen. Staff
are not only required to have excellent interpersonal skills with
youth, they are also highly trained and experienced in their area
of expertise. The weekly adventure programs are organized into groups
of 6 to 9 youth, and 2 to 3 staff counselors. Many of the staff
members are former participants at Navajo Trails, and have many
years of experience in their specialty.

Dan & Jen Sampson
Navajo Trails Adventure Camp was founded by Don Sampson & Mont
Ellett the year Dan was born, and so he has been a life time attendant
at Navajo Trails! Dan trained horses and led horseback trips during
the summers while he was in college, and has also directed the Camp
for several years.
Dan obtained an economics degree from the University of Utah on
a basketball scholarship where he played for the 'Running Utes'.
He acquired his MBA at Brigham Young University. Dan's love of the
camping experience for youth fuels the fire and spirit of Navajo
Trails.

enjoys all sports including snow skiing, horseback riding, water
skiing, camping, etc. Jen graduated in family science from Brigham

business and is a full-time mom.
Dan and Jen have four sons, Benjamin, Joseph, Luke and Joshua who enjoy being apart of the camp family.
