Action Packed Program...
Education is not the filling of a bucket,
but the starting of a fire.
-- William Butler Yeates
Girls and boys ages 9-16 gather from all parts of the United States
and many other countries to enjoy the Navajo Trails Program. Special
care is taken to make their exposure to the unique natural wonder
of the high Rockies and colorful Canyonlands of Utah an exciting
growth experience.
Our
program combines a four day adventure outing of choice during the
week, and a ranch experience on the weekend.
A brief outline of a typical week follows:
Sunday
Kids are personally met by staff at their arrival gate at the Salt
Lake City International Airport. From there, they are transported
to the Ranch by van.
Monday-Friday
Spent on skill-building adventure trips of choice, in spectacular
outdoor wilderness (read about the seven adventure choices on the
frontpage).
Friday
Trip groups begin returning back to the Ranch. After cleanup, group
wide activities may include: Rodeo in town, a big cook out held
around the open fire that night, as tales from their week's high
adventures are told.
Saturday
A "work hard, play hard" day. Kids get involved in teamwork
projects, individual skill building, group socialization, and recreational
activities: Some of the work projects include gardening, construction
& repairs, meal preparation assistance, horse grooming, hay
hauling, and clean up projects.
Besides group-wide games on the Ranch grounds in the afternoon,
other activity options include sports, archery, riflery and more.
Kids also enjoy the West with hayrides, hoedowns, square dances,
watermelon busts, and evening campfire programs.
Sunday
A day of rest and reflection. Letters are written to parents, journals
are updated, and dreams and goals are pondered. A variety of church
services are available in nearby towns for those who would like
to attend.
